Take A Stand Against Domestic Violence
DID YOU KNOW?*
- 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have experienced some form of physical violence by an intimate partner.
- On a typical day, domestic violence hotlines receive approximately 21,000 calls, approximately 15 calls every minute.
- Intimate partner violence accounts for 15% of all violent crime.
Thursday October 19, 2017 is “Purple Thursday”
Faculty, staff, and students- Please wear your purple and join in the efforts to raise awareness about domestic violence:
What are the warning signs (extreme jealousy, possessiveness, verbal abuse, extremely controlling behavior, and others)?
What resources are available (2 are listed at the end of this announcement)?
A booth will be set up on the pedestrian walkway near the Humanities Building between the hours of 10:00am and 2:00 pm. Representatives from Human Resources, Office of Equity and Diversity, Office of Title IX, UT Police, and UTIA College of Veterinary Medicine will be available to provide information, handouts, and giveaways.
Visit our booth on Pedestrian Walkway on Thursday, October 19, 2017 to learn warning signs, community resources, and ways that you can get involved to change the statistics.
And remember to wear purple!
