The Department of Mathematics will hold its annual Barrett Lecture series June 16-19. This year the conference is entitled "Complex Analysis in Probabilistic Settings" and will focus on cutting-edge research at the interface of analysis and probability. Award-winning researchers Grégory Miermont (Ecole Normale Superieure de Lyon) and Steffen Rohde (University of Washington) will each present a series of 3 talks. The conference includes other talks by prominent researchers as well as a poster and computer demo session. For more information, see www.math.utk.edu/barrett/
The John H. Barrett Memorial Lecture Series began in 1960 as a tribute to Dr. John H. Barrett, Mathematics Department Head (1964 - 1969) at the University of Tennessee, upon his death in 1969. They have been given annually since 1970 in a variety of mathematical fields by a succession of distinguished speakers.
