Hazardous Chemical Safety Training Session for UT Employees

Tuesday, 29 October, 2013

UT Environmental Health and Safety is offering classroom training in the University Center Shiloh Room, 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 28, and Tuesday, October 29. Attending one session is sufficient to receive the training.

The federal Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) recently revised its Hazard Communication Standard to align with global standards. The new standards will improve worker understanding of the hazards associated with the chemicals in their workplaces. All employees who use hazardous chemicals in their workplace must be trained on the new global standards by December 1, 2013.

This training is mandatory for UT faculty, staff and students who use chemicals in their work place.

Register for the class by contacting April Case at acase3@utk.edu, or 974-5084. The deadline for registration is Friday, October 25.

For more information on these requirements, please visit the EHS website at www.ehs.utk.edu, or the OSHA website at www.osha.gov/dsg/hazcom/.
