The Future of Health Care: at the Crossroads of Sustainability and Medical Practice

Wednesday, 16 July, 2014

Join us on Wednesday July 16, 5-6 pm, in Morrison's Conference Room at UT Hospital for a presentation titled "The Future of Health Care: At the Crossroads of Sustainability and Medical Practice" by UT Philosophy PhD candidate and assistant professor of Philosophy at Roane State College, Jason Fishel. The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments are served.

Description: The institution of health care is at a crossroads. Global climate change threatens human health in measurable ways, yet for most health care practice continues to operate without significant regard to environmental concerns. Though environmentally responsible measures are sometimes adopted, the changes adopted fall far short of what is necessary for health care to become sustainable. Health care professionals have an obligation to improve the sustainability of health care, both at the level of public health and at the level of individual care.
