Abby Gibson loved animals--especially horses. This caring 10 year old brought love and joy into every life--human and animal--she touched. Abby dreamed of one day going to UT College of Veterinary Medicine and becoming an animal doc. In the summer of 2010, Abby died from injuries received in a horseback riding accident.
To embrace her dreams, Abby's mother, Jennifer Gibson Boyle, created the Abby Gibson Veterinary Medicine Scholarship Endowment at UTCVM. To help raise funds for the endowment, Jennifer organized the Walk and Wag Dog Walk, a dog friendly family event held in Abby's memory. Proceeds from the third annual event will also benefit Humans and Animals Learning Together, Human Animal Bond in Tennessee, and the Knoxville Zoo's ZooFund for kids.
The walk, held rain or shine, takes place June 7, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. 1:00 p.m. at Victor Ashe Park in Knoxville. Registration is $15 per adult through May 30. On-site registration is $20. Check-in and on-site registration begins at 9:00 a.m. Visit http://www.abbygibson.org/ for details.
