Topology/Geometry Seminar

Wednesday, 12 February, 2014

SPEAKER: Mr. Kyle Austin

TITLE: Simplicial Approximation As a Bridge Between Topology and Coarse Geometry

ABSTRACT: Extension theory has been successfully implemented to both characterize and extend general topological concepts. The goal of this talk is to show how extension and approximation of mappings to polyhedra can be used in the large scale. Covering dimension and asymptotic dimension will serve as an underlying theme for this comparison of topology and coarse geometry.
