Algebra Seminar

Wednesday, 12 February, 2014

SPEAKER: Prof. S. Mulay, UT

TITLE: Degree of exceptionality

ABSTRACT: The notion of "degree of exceptionality of an integral domain" will be introduced and elaborated on via its connections with the Euclidean property and properties of polynomial mappings. No proofs will be presented. Some open questions will be stated (good enough as `Ph. D. and beyond' projects). The pace of this exposition will be unimpressive and its duration will be untiring (..big green signal to grad students !).
