UT Science Forum - Changing the World with Polymer Chemistry

Friday, 24 January, 2014

The UT Science Forum presented by Quest offers a weekly lecture on current science, medical, or technology developments. On January 24, 2014, Dr. Jimmy Mays, Professor of Chemistry and ORNL Distinguished Scientist, will speak on "Changing the World with Polymer Chemistry" from 12 noon to 1 p.m.

Thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) are rubbery materials that can undergo large and reversible shape alterations. And unlike conventional rubber, TPEs have lower processing costs and easy recycling. New understanding of the material is leading to possible commercial applications, including potential use in next generation condoms.

UT Science Forum is free and open to the public.

Location: Thompson-Boling Arena Dining room C-D. Bring your lunch or purchase it from the Arena.
