Artist Lecture: Mary Reid Kelley

Please join us for a lecture by artist, Mary Reid Kelley. Her work is currently on view in the Pencil Pushed exhibition at both the Ewing and UT Downtown Galleries.

Mary Reid Kelley was born in South Carolina in 1979. She studied Art and Women's Studies at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, and received her M.F.A. in Painting from Yale University in 2009. She has had solo shows in New York, Los Angeles, and London and has completed a commissioned video for the 2010 SITE Santa Fe Biennial, -The Dissolve. An interest in language, literature, and history informs her work, which combines video, poetry, animation, performance, and painting. The videos she makes in collaboration with her husband, Patrick Kelley, have been reviewed in ŽThe New York Times, ŽThe Los Angeles Times, Artforum, Frieze, and Art in America. She currently lives at the American Academy in Rome as a 2011-2012 Fellow in the Visual Arts.
