Empowering Yourself with a Legal Education from UT

Speaker: Professor Karla McKanders, associate professor, the University of Tennessee College of Law

Time: 11:45 Lunch with Professor McKanders' remarks at 12:30 / optional networking with diverse and minority law students follow until 1:45.

The University of Tennessee College of Law invites prospective law students to an informal lunchtime session focusing on the value of a legal education for minority and diverse students. Professor Karla McKanders will discuss the topic of "Empowering  Yourself with a Legal Education from UT" and share her own career path from Duke Law school to private practice, a federal judicial clerkship, and now a faculty position in UT's nationally regarded legal clinic, where her teaching and research focuses on civil rights, immigration and asylum law and policy. Law students and admissions staff will be available to discuss the law school experience following Professor McKanders informal presentation. This program is a collaboration with the Law School Admissions Council's DiscoverLaw program.
