UT Science Forum - Knoxville Urban Forestry: Year One

Friday, 25 October, 2013

The UT Science Forum presented by Quest offers a weekly lecture on current science, medical, or technology developments. On October 25, 2013, Kasey Krouse, City of Knoxville Urban Forester, will speak on "Knoxville Urban Forestry - Year One" from 12 noon to 1 p.m.

A variety of different strategies have been used in the City of Knoxville Urban forestry program to improve tree canopy within the City of Knoxville. Mr. Krouse will also discuss two particular strategies employed to assess the urban forest utilizing i-Tree components. i-Tree is a state-of-the-art software from the USDA Forest Service. The i-Tree Tools help communities to quantify the environmental benefits that trees provide in order to strengthen urban forest management and advocacy efforts.

The Science Forum is free and open to the public.
